Located at the most southern tip of Hainan Island, China, Nanshan is a Buddhist complex of monumental proportions. In fact the statue seen here as under construction (note its off-shore position, facing south) is reported to be the largest Buddha statue anywhere. The design and layout certainly are impressive. This is a main tourist attraction, with a spa, extensive gardens, a variety of restaurants, its own tea plantation (no chemicals being used in the growing and production processes), exhibition spaces and numerous shrines and halls.
