A selection of photographs of the Chinese equivalent to the Greek Hades or netherworld. Fengdu is located on the upper reaches of the Yangzi in Sichuan province.
Visited twice in the fall of 1986, when the place was under restoration, as so many places were back then.
Color slide film, scanned on an Epson Perfection scanner, converted to grayscale JPG format, individually post-processed.
