Example of a color(ized) photograph of a Daoist priest (John D. Zumbrun). Most probably Beijing.
As far as I am aware, this is the earliest extant photograph of a Taoist priest which reflects the colors of the full regalia (daopao). It was taken in Beijing (precise location not know, but inside a temple's premises). The exact date is unclear, but certainly before 1929 - I would hazard a guess saying it was taken sometime in the mid-1910s.
