These photographs were taken at a private Chinese book collector's mazy apartment in late June 2006. They depict parts of his large and valuable collection of
- Chinese rare books (mostly behind glass);
- Rare journals and late Qing/Republican-era local serialized publications, the so-called xiao bao 小报 (in folders);
- The Liang Sicheng architectural photography collection from 1936-38;
- A rare (perhaps unique) Ming dynasty Daoist manuscript;
- Western titles, some of them old and rare.

Other parts of the collection are held in storage (such as the Japanese part).
